This article discusses the fact that many Latin American countries have changed their government systems to democracy. It also debates whether this change has been beneficial or harmful to Latin America. On one hand, it has helped reduce political violence. However, it has also weakened the government of some countries, making them less able to deal with important issues. In addition, there is much corruption. Overall, the author supports democracy, but thinks that it needs to be very strong for it to work. According to the author, Latin America seems to be naturally inclined to authoritarianism, but it needs to change to democracy. Democracy is the U.S.’s form of government, and we are patriotic and believe that our government is the best, so we force our opinions on other countries. Is it right to do this? Will it eventually help other countries or is our help not even wanted at all? That answer will come when we see how Latin American countries fare with democracy. -EL
